Thanks to Bells Cookies for sending this box in exchange for a review. All thoughts are my own. |
If you have followed any of my writings, you know I have a sweet tooth. I am particularly fond of things chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, and on occasion, a good yellow cake. It is not without doubt that our holiday seasons are full of yummy temptations, but not everyone is a baker, has the time, or the patience to clean up afterward!
While I can whip up a chocolate chip cookie pretty fast, I do love supporting various businesses and trying out some yummy concoctions. I also love visiting differing locations and tasting regional cuisines. Bell's Cookie Co, based in Seattle, claims to have some irresistible cookies that tummies everywhere will love!
I love a good cookie and was excited when the shipment from Bell's arrived! Inside, I found delightful concoctions that I wasn't expecting. The Chocolate Sesame Halva Cookie is one of the best flavor combinations I've had in a long time!
This cookie was created to celebrate Jewish and Middle Eastern cultures by combing a bunch of flavor profiles using chocolate, tahini, halva, and sesame seeds. The result is a creamy buttery soft cookie that has a hint of vanilla from the halva but a smooth chocolate taste.
In case you didn't know, because I didn't at all, halva is the combination of a seed or butter and sweetener. It's typically made into fudge type consistency, but literally melts in your mouth more than fudge does. It can have a texture but can also be smooth, just depending on how it's made. It's a delicacy often found in the Middle East and typically has nuts included in it, but not always.
In this cookie, Hebel & Co's creamy vanilla halva was used to bring a sesame seed flavor to the cookie.
Then, there is tahini. Tahini is basically a butter from ground up seeds. In this case, the cookie has Soom Tahini chocolate embedded in its cookie DNA. Soom Tahini Chocolate is made up of cocoa powder, sesame seeds, sugar, and sea salt. The sea salt adds that extra touch needed to balance all the sweet and sesame seed tastes!
The box came with 5 cookies, a package of Hebel & Co Halva, and a package of Soom Tahini. I actually liked this package, because while I love cookies, I also love being able to sample products that made the cookies! I can't wait to test out the Halva and Tahini in my own baked goods.
Tahini can also be spread on pancakes, toast, and even eaten by the spoonful if you dare. Of course, we all know those late night PB spoonful raids, so maybe Tahini will curb your chocolate craving instead?
Of course, Bell's Cookie Co has all the classic flavors and then some!
