Stuff Your Stockings With Wiley Wallaby Licorice & Candies

Thanks Wiley Wallaby's for sending these candies out in exchange for a review. All thoughts are my own.

In the late 1700s, the British figured out how to take a licorice root (an ancient herb used for health purposes) and sugar to create a semi-edible cough syrup. From there, the concoction took off and eventually became the twisted strips that we know and either love or hate.

Growing up, red vines and Twizzlers were all the rage, but I never really liked the taste of either. I gladly gave up my Twizzlers in the Halloween candy, passed it on to others when received during Christmas parades, and just generally didn't like the rubbery taste and texture.

Yet, my sister, on the other hand, loved the flavor and textures. She and I have always been different with candies-she loved now and later, starbursts chews, etc. I loved peppermints, orange savers, and chocolate.

At any rate, when I came across Wiley Wallaby's licorice, I knew this would make the perfect gift for her family this holiday season! Her kids have taken on her licorice passions, as well as her husband, so I knew that the various treats would be loved and eaten.

Wiley Wallaby has several different types of their wonderful licorice & flavors. Currently, offered:

  • Soft & Chewy: classic red, watermelon, green apple, hot cinnamon, blasted berry, huckleberry, blueberry pomegranate, and classic black
  • Grab & Go Shareable: Classic Red, Watermelon, Sourageous Drops
  • Licorice Candies: Sourageous Drops, Original Fruits, Black with a Candy Shell, & Assorted
  • Less Sugar/ Gluten Free: Very Berry, Watermelon
  • Limited Edition: Lemon, Original Fruits
Vegan, Kosher, and made with palm oil and no high fructose corn syrup, these candies are fat free but flavorful!

So I sent several bags off to my sister's family for them to enjoy. I've been told that my niece and brother-in-law are consistently eating the sourageous candies, and that my sister has been nibbling on the regular licorices.

She says that while the candies taste different from Twizzlers, she likes the soft & chewy style the best. There is the right amount of chewy, and they aren't too tough.

She does wish the candies didn't contain the food dyes, but does appreciate that Wiley Wallaby's doesn't use high fructose corn syrup in their products.

I saved a small shareable package to test out and was surprised at what I had too. The minis are perfect, especially if you don't like the tough chewy versions of licorice, and have great flavoring.

They are small enough, but satisfying enough, that I only wanted a couple. Although, if you love the candy, you might devour the whole bag in one sitting!

Wiley Wallaby's definitely has candies that are great for stocking stuffers and the licorice lover in your family!

This holiday season, be sure to check out these candies packed full of flavor and support a third-generation family owned company in the process!
