Nothing Ahead-pexels
Guys, I am about to admit something on here...a piece of my soul really. (sigh) Here it goes... I am a chicken. That's right, I said it, I am a chicken, at least when it comes to scary movies. Halloween is a time for fright and scares for many people. So Halloween always presented a movie conundrum for me. So for my other fellow scaredy cats & chickens look no further than this list of not-so-spooky Halloween movies. (Disclaimer: everyone has a different level of "chicken-ness" so you have been warned.)
My Top 5: Scaredy- Cat Friendly Halloween Movies!
Like any good list we will count them down to #1!'
5. Halloweentown (1-3)
A Disney Channel Original Movie classic, you follow the lives of three Cromwell children plus their Mom and Grandmother, who are all witches. The three Cromwell children help fight off villains to save their beloved Halloweentown in the first two movies, with citizens of Halloweentown coming to the mortal world for high school in the third installment. While yes, there is a fourth movie of this series, they replaced the main character and acted like we wouldn't notice....We noticed! Also, fun fact the main character and the bad guy from the second movie are actually now married in real life! Which just brings me to believe in the magic of the movie even more!
4. Practical Magic
Such an amazing movie!! With Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as adult witches who are trying to break a love curse on their family, this movie is full of sisterly love and suspense. Also, who wouldn't have wanted to grow up in that house?!?! Does have some scary and adult bits so maybe watch after the kiddos are in bed.
3. It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
Want a family friendly and fun movie?? With Charlie, Snoopy, Linus and the Peanuts gang all together, you know its going to be a family favorite! Linus is convinced that there is a Great Pumpkin who travels around and visits pumpkin patches on Halloween night. He tends to his pumpkin patch in hopes that the Great Pumpkin will arrive, even when his friends doubt him! There is something to be said for his optimism. Also, who gave out rocks for Halloween????
2. Harry Potter Movies
Now, before you come at me for ranking Harry Potter at #2 and not #1, let me explain my reasoning. I am a firm believer that Harry Potter is an any time of year movie, not just Halloween as is my #1.
Like any child growing up in the 90s/2000s Harry Potter books and movies were life changing and altering! There is no introduction or synopsis required for Harry Potter! It is amazing and just like every other child who grew up with the books, I am still waiting on my letter!
1. Hocus Pocus
This movie is such a fun watch! It has everything from amazing costumes to great dialogue to a kick-butt musical number. Everyone in this movie was perfectly cast! I have always enjoyed this movie but as I have gotten older I have noticed so many things that were written in for the adults as well. In my mind, a movie that you can continue to watch and find new things each time is the clear winner! This is always my go-to Halloween movie!
That is my list... Comment below on what your list/rating would be!
