Now that Daylight Savings Time is upon us and the cooler weather is moving in. Let's talk about some tried and true craft experiences that are sure to keep your little ones engaged and amazed!

1. DIY Lava Lamps

This is a simple recipe for you and your kiddos to accomplish without much prep and using ingredients found in most home pantries. All you need is a jar with a lid, vinegar, baking soda, cooking oil, and food coloring. I use this website for this experiment!

2. Clear Bulb Ornaments

You can buy these clear plastic bulb ornaments from any local dollar store or bulk from Amazon. There are several options for crafts with these. My top two are:

        1. Paint marbling. Grabs some paint colors and pour small amounts in the bulb. Reapply the lids and then have the kids twirl or gently shake the ornaments to thoroughly coat the inside making a nice marble effect. You can leave it like that or also apply stickers or vinyl to give each ornament its own pizazz.

        2. Texture. Take the top of the ornament off and carefully fill with different colors of gift basket filler paper. This makes the ornament have a nice depth and then the kiddos can decorate the outside with finger paints or stickers.

 3.  Make your own Crayons.

Broken crayons still color right?!?! Let your kiddos put their favorite colors together into their own crayon creation! For this all you need are old crayons, silicone baking molds, and a baking pan.

        1. First, find any unused or broken crayons laying around the house and take the paper wrappers off.

        2.  Preheat the oven to between 250-300 degrees F. Check your molds to see their heat tolerance.

        3. Allow you kiddos to break the crayons into small sized pieces or chips.

        4. Place the pieces and chips of colors into the molds. Be cautious of how many colors you add into each mold as the crayons melt the colors will mix, I usually stick to 3 colors max per mold. Pack them in tight and to the top but without stretching the mold.

        5. Place molds on the baking sheet and bake until melted. I usually check every 5 minutes, depending on the wax quality, how old the crayons are and the size of the molds, it can take up to 25 minutes for them to melt.

        6. Take them out of the oven and allow to cool either at room temp or you can put in the freezer. Once they are cooled completely, gently guide them out of the molds and they are ready for use.  Tip: If they break, don't fret let the rest cool completely and then stick any that break back into teh molds and put in the oven again!
