Oh, Christmas Tree

Happy Tuesday, friends! What in the world? We are officially two weeks away from Christmas Eve! If you're anything like me, you're missing that extra week between Thanksgiving and the start of Advent that we didn't get this year. It's absolutely messing me up, and it has left me wishing that I decorated my home for Christmas much earlier than I did.

We waited until the day after Thanksgiving to pull our Christmas decor out, and in theory, it was a good plan... until our youngest developed croup and wound up in the ER the next night. Her illness has required constant attention and care, so finishing decorating our Christmas trees had to wait another week, as did everything else. Our girl is finally feeling a bit better, twelve days later, which means getting back to Christmas craziness. While we now have merely two weeks to pull it together, I am trying to let go of the stress of the season and enjoy the lovely glow of our Christmas trees.

Our living room tree is decorated with Chrismon ornaments made by church members and given to our children each year. They'll each have their own ornament collection to take with them when they're ready to leave the nest.

We usually put up four Christmas trees and have small tabletop trees in each of the children's bedrooms. I wanted a tree in my bedroom as well, but it just wasn't in the cards this year. Each tree has a theme. Our family tree which sits in our parlor, is decorated with blue and white, along with collectible blown glass ornaments, and Hallmark collectible ornaments. Our dining room tree is a pencil tree and is decorated with black and white ornaments and poinsettias.

Our small dining room tree, with my Grandpa's holiday train at the base.

I love the pencil tree in our dining room, because the base is just right for me to display the little wooden train my Grandpa made many years ago. I let the girls play with the train, and love watching them add their little figurines to the engine and train cars. I wish my grandparents could see that their love for us lives on, especially during the holidays.

We also have a Harry Potter-themed tree in our office, which I haven't photographed, because that room is messy with packages and wrapping paper. This tree is adorned with ornaments we purchased on our trip to Universal Studios in Orlando last year. We had such a wonderful time on that trip, and wanted to remember it, always.

I'd love to have more time to decorate for Christmas. I sure do love it. I'm pleased with what we've done this season, and will look forward to enjoying these beautiful Christmas trees for a few more weeks
