Love Your Pet & Home Even More With Trot Pets Elevated Feeder System

Many thanks to Trot for providing this complete elevated feeding set just in time for Valentine's Day!

Friends, my family has had dogs in the household all through my childhood & college years. I didn't in my adult years for a while due to instability, but when it was time to adopt my current twenty pound monster, I was also concerned about the impact on my home. I am far from a clean freak, but I dislike mud and mess all over the floor because I often walk barefoot.

I have a feeder for Chachi that is perfect for dry food (kibble) and water, but I've been finding more and more that when he eats wet food or treats, he slides his plate across the floor to try to lick it all up.

Now, this dog is spoiled because he won't eat his wet food in one of his bowls.. it has to be on a plate. His plate. Yep. Some days he tips his plate, which smears food across the floor or against baseboards. Some days he just wants to lick his plate into oblivion, clear down the hallway.

So, cue the scene card here. The Setting: My Living Room & Hallway. (Now, I'm in an apartment, so space is minimal too). I get up to head to the restroom. Suddenly, my foot is sliding across the hallway.

Yep, I stepped on his plate, because he had pushed it to the middle of the room while licking it, and in my oblivious late night nature, didn't notice it.

Why am I telling you this?

When I heard about Trot Pets feeding accessories, I KNEW it was the system I needed in addition to our regular feeder system. I was sent the elevated complete set. This set comes with an elevated stand (3, 6, 12 inches), a mat in 10 available colors, and a puzzle slow feeder/ water bowl set (S, M, L). My set came in medium, which is probably too big for this guy, but it works because he drinks a lot of water!

We have now used this set for about a week. I have to admit, this guy doesn't really need the height, but the three inches up off the floor maintain the cleanliness of the floor.  Although, I think just the mat would do that as well.

Also, be sure to talk to your vet if you have a breed that can get bloat easily. There's a varying information out there about elevated stands contributing to factors related to bloat, so it might be best you investigate before buying a whole set.

If not, even the mat would still be a perfect way to show love to your furry family members! After all, they desire special eating places like we do.

I've set the Trot System up in my kitchen, out of the way, and he knows exactly where to head for his meals now. He still has water and kibble available in his other feeder, but he much prefers to eat off this new system.

The mat is like my gold coin here, though. It has a lip so that his plates don't go sliding into kingdom come, it is perfect for treats (he's been on a banana and/or cheese kick lately, which helps him take his medicine), and it's magnetized. The mats are dishwasher safe, although for me, it's just as easy to rinse it and let air dry if needed.

That's right! Both the puzzle bowl and the water bowl stay on the mat with a magnet!

I do have to say, while he's accustomed to lick and snuffle mats, he hasn't taken to his puzzle feeder that well. In fact, see the above luck of "mom, you want me to do what".. but it has slowed him down when he's fishing out his most favorite treats, which is the whole point (and probably what he hates!).

Trot's accessories can be bought in sets like this, or they can be bought individually. Oh, the bowls also come with lids, which are super fabulous for traveling to his auntie's house or my office!

Even if he doesn't finish his food, the lid will help it to stay fresh, whether on the tray or in the fridge. Single mats and bowls are available too if you don't need everything.

The bowls are stainless steel, water safe, and unless your dog is super into playing with their food & water, won't tip over. In fact, the magnet helps that even further, although I dare to say that a 90 lb lab could probably do whatever he wants :)

I love Chachi and want the best for him, but also to keep my sanity in my home. I hope that this keeps random slides to a minimum and keeps my floors from having smeared wet dog food across them (or bananas, or cheese, or whatever his delight of the day might be)!
