Like any food-driven dog, Chachi loves a good treat. Perhaps, too many of them, at times. He is rather picky too! He recently has taken a liking for bananas, which is great for this human, because I can hide his pills in them, and he scarfs it down without a thought. The same for cheese. 

He also has a tendency to eat wet food more than kibble. While other slow feeder bowls are decent for kibble, they aren't all that great for wet food and treats, like bananas and blueberries. 

I recently shared Trot Pet's magnetic tray system with you, and we continue to love this amazing system! It keeps his food and water off the floor, but also keeps things from sliding! While I can use the tray as a stand-alone treat tray, when I found out about Trot Pet's Snack Tray, I definitely wanted to try it out.

I was sent the Trot Pets Snack Tray in the same color as the complete system, Harvest Red. Just in time for National Puppy Day, this snack tray helps Chachi fulfill his snack goals while making him slow down instead of scarfing down. 

The Snack Tray is made of durable food-safe silicone that is also dishwasher and freezer safe. It has 2 dual sections: one that offers small "slots" and one that is better for "licking", with its small nodules. Freezer safe means that you can mix your dog's favorites, like yogurt, honey, fruit, and even pumpkin puree right on the tray! (Check out these frozen treat recipes from Subaru Drive. 

Then they can lick to their hearts content. Eventually, if your dog is like mine, they will probably get frustrated and wander away, stare at you wishing for you to fix their problems, then wander back to their snack tray for more goodness. 

It comes with a separate 3M Magnet puck, making it usable on most floor surfaces, or it can be integrated with your already existing Trot Tray system. As a bonus, the medium lid from the bowls also fits on the snack tray! 

The day that this package arrived, Chachi had annoyed himself and me, because he was licking his regular plate so hard, that it slid across the tray, and spin across the kitchen. Now, it was basically empty, so mess was minimal, but he has flipped, left a trail, and spun his snack trays in the past when he wants every morsel of the treats offered. 

I was definitely excited to use this, and it's become our go- to "plate" for most of his meals and treats. He gets wet food in the morning, and it's slowed him down so that he doesn't gobble it in one bit. He gets meds in the late evening, and this is a wonderful way to spread them out (cheese and/or banana, usually). 

I've also been breaking up his regular treats and putting them in the slots, to try to get him to slow down.  At first, he gave me the classic "what do you want me to do with that" look, but then he's quickly learned that the tray will stay in place, making it easier for him to achieve his goal of licking it incredibly clean. 

I do like how it comes with the extra magnet puck, but I don't need it right now, as we are mainly using the snack plate with the complete tray system. If we travel, though, that's a perfect way to make sure that floors stay somewhat clean! 

I do think it slows him down too, as I've noticed he is taking longer to finish his breakfast and dinner because he licks between all the grooves. It's a game for him, until he gets frustrated and walks away because he can't get that last blueberry!
