I don't know about you, but as a plus size woman, I haven't enjoyed clothes shopping in a long time. Most stores don't carry plus sizes, and if they do, they're shoved way back in the corner of the store, like we're being ostracized. It's extremely frustrating, and honestly, I feel like these stores are shaming us for being plus size. It can be hurtful and harmful to the plus-size community. Yet, several companies out there have tried to bridge this gap and, furthermore, have created stores that are specifically for us plus-size gals. One of those stores is Torrid.
Torrid is a women's clothing store that carries sizes 10-30 and has been one of my favorite places to shop for a long time. I am more of an in-person shopper than an online shopper. That's one reason I am so grateful that Torrid has brick-and-mortar stores so I can touch, feel, and see their clothes in person. This is especially helpful when it comes to buying jeans, because I definitely have to try them on before buying. Torrid is my favorite store to shop for denim, and I recently took a trip there to look for some new styles to update my wardrobe.
One thing I like about shopping at Torrid is how clean and organized my local store is. Most retail stores are dirty, cluttered, and hot. My local store is always well lit, with happy and friendly staff who are willing to help but also leave you alone and let you shop in peace, which I really appreciate. On this particular day, I went shopping for specific items I wanted to try on and was hoping to look at all the new items in stock.
Now, for me, I don't enjoy trying on jeans. I have such a hard time finding the right fit because I have a long torso and short legs, but Torrid makes it so much easier to find the right fit with their different legths and rises. Especially with their new Jeans for Life campaign, I couldn't wait to see what they had in store. I've been a skinny-jean kinda girl for a long time, and I really wanted to try on a pair of flares or wide-leg jeans. I wore both in high school 20+ years ago, so I thought I'd break out of my comfort zone and try some on, and of course I had to throw in a pair of Skinnies in there to try on.
I tried on The High Rise-Wide Leg jean in Making Waves, Jegging High Rise Skinny, and I honestly don't remember the name of the last pair, but they were super cute. I must say that during this try-on process, I was never more grateful to find out that the dressing room had a fan in the room. I get so warm trying on clothes, and I thought that the fan was such a thoughtful addition, and I definitely used it! Now, as for the jeans, Torrid reminded me that I love a good pair of flared denim. The fit was so good, and they felt so comfortable on, I didn't want to take them off. The same goes for the High Rise-Wide Leg jeans. These are probably my favorite pair that I tried on and now own! I feel like these are more than just a pair of denim. I wear them to work all the time and get so many compliments on how they look and fit.
Another thing that I love about Torrid's denim is how long it lasts. They truly design their jeans to last for years. I own several pairs that I wear on a weekly basis and have lasted many years before developing the inevitable hole in the thigh. Torrid really does make great quality denim, and right now, they have a great sale going on if you are in need of some too. With Torrid's Jeans For Life, I'm sure you'll find your next great pair.
